Fake Screenshot Detector

Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is stored or sent - this tool has no server and takes no upload.

Someone sends you a Shopify revenue header, a Stripe payout, or a "$14k this month" earnings panel and asks you to trust it. This is a checklist for pressure-testing that image before you do. Tick every statement that matches what you're looking at; the score updates as you go. It is a media-literacy aid, not an uploader - you read the screenshot, not us.

We are direct about our position: we build CustomDashboards, a dashboard mockup app. The existence of good mockup software is exactly why a screenshot is weak proof - a convincing one takes under a minute to make. That's the whole reason detection and honest labeling matter. For the reasoning behind every check below, read the full guide: How to Spot a Fake Dashboard Screenshot.

Skepticism score 0 / 100

Tick the boxes that match the screenshot you're evaluating. Even with zero red flags, a screenshot is not proof - it has no chain of custody back to the platform that supposedly produced it.

1. Does the math reconcile?
2. Typography & interface
3. The numbers themselves
4. Platform chrome
5. Locale coherence
6. Provenance & chain of custody

How to read your score

The score is a skepticism dial, not a verdict of "real" or "fake." No screenshot earns a clean bill of health here, because the strongest tells - the math and the provenance - are things a screenshot alone can never settle. A low score means few surface tells, but you should still verify the claim outside the image. A medium score means treat it as likely staged until proven otherwise. A high score means don't treat the image as evidence at all.

The two heaviest groups are deliberate. Math that doesn't reconcile and evidence that exists only as a single image can't be fixed by polishing pixels - they can only be resolved by asking for something a mockup tool can't produce: a live screenshare, a platform-issued payout export, a public storefront, or accountant-backed records. When a claim genuinely matters, that is what to ask for.

Make Mockups - and Label Them Clearly

CustomDashboards is free to use and private. Build a pixel-perfect mockup for a skit, a course slide, or a pitch demo, add a visible "example" tag, and you have a screenshot that respects the audience.
